Dare to Go Bare With This Body Care Routine

It’s time to turn up the heat on your summer skincare routine, and sunscreen should be at the top of your list (no brainer right?). But there are other steps you can take to ensure your body is glowing and looking healthy all summer long. So, if you are ready to dare to go bare, then add these steps to your summer skincare routine and watch your skin glow.

Gently Exfoliate

Exfoliation, in moderation, is key to your skin looking clean and healthy. While you’ve probably incorporated exfoliating into your facial skincare routine once or twice a week before bedtime, don’t forget your body needs to slough away all those dead skin cells too. One of our favorite products pairs a low-foaming body wash with exfoliating gloves. Do this a few times a week and your skin will look soft and smooth in no time.

Moisturize

Now that your body is smooth and rid of any dead skin cells thanks to consistent exfoliating, one of the best ways to keep your skin looking “bare-all ready” is a rich body lotion. A product that uses botanicals will leverage the power of mother nature to keep your skin looking smooth and healthy. Our favorite product features an ultra-rich formula made from 15 cold pressed plant extracts (think chamomile, geranium, and thyme flower), natural emollients, vitamins, and pure essential oils such as sunflower and kukui nut that will boost skin healing, protect, and prevent dryness. For best results, make sure to use over clean, damp skin after a bath or shower. And if you are traveling this summer, be sure to take your body skin care routine on the road with a convenient travel kit. Consider your skin soft, smooth and conditioned.

Protect

Here’s one way to think about the sun and your skin: Sunscreen should be a last resort. Meaning if you really want to protect your skin from the sun, look for other ways in addition to sunscreen to protect your body from harmful UVA and UVB rays. Some tips include:

  • Plan around the sun: Head outside in the morning or late afternoon when the sun is lower in the sky—if you do go out mid-day, find shade or make some.
  • Cover up: shirts, hats, and sunglasses will help shield your skin and reduce your chances of burning.
  • Know your UV Index: This gives you an idea of how strong the UV light is in your area on any given day and time. The higher the number, the greater the risk of damage that could cause skin cancer.
  • Stay hydrated: Here’s a tip: try and remember to drink every 30 minutes. This will help keep you and your skin free of toxins while helping with hydration.
