Skincare + More: The Benefits of Botanicals

Let’s just keep it simple. We believe 100% in the power of botanicals for healthy, natural-looking skin. Period. After all, nature has given us everything we need for healthy, happy skin. This means there is no reason to mess around with products that contain phthalates, sulfates, parabens, synthetic dyes, or any other B.S. ingredients. And while we are passionate about all-natural skincare, we also know that the power of botanicals goes far beyond healthy skin. Here are a few other ways you can use everything mother nature gives us to heal and care for you and your skin.

Lavender + Mosquitoes

Do mosquitos like lavender? Studies say no. Essential oils with lavender have been shown to quickly provide relief for mosquito bites. Because lavender has analgesic, antifungal, and antiseptic qualities, which not only means it will help prevent mosquito bites, it also calms and soothes the ones you do get. Just drop some lavender oil on a clean cloth and gently rub onto the skin.

Tea Tree Oil + Pregnancy

Tea tree oil is an effective essential oil that is good for acne, skin rashes and cuts, but what about using tea tree oil during pregnancy? The key is to know the best way to use it during each stage of your pregnancy. While best to hold off during your first trimester, by your fourth month and beyond you can use tea tree oil on your skin. Experts recommend diluting it (you should never use essential oils pure, they should always be mixed with a carrier oil) before rubbing on the skin just to be safe and never ingest it. They also say tea tree oil is safe to use when you are close to going into labor as it doesn’t cause or get in the way of labor contractions. But as with any treatment involving pregnancy, be sure to do your homework and talk to your doctor.

Aloe Vera Skin Benefits

The ancient Egyptians called it the “plant of immortality” so who are we to argue with that? For centuries Aloe Vera has been used in a variety of health and skincare treatments...and is one of the best natural solutions to soothe and heal the skin. The real magic is in the clear gel the Aloe plant leaves secrete...or when found in natural skincare products designed to reduce inflammation and calm the skin.
