Exfoliation Tips for Every Skin Type
Want to know the secret to glowing, smooth, healthy skin? Well, trust us, a little exfoliation can go a long way to revealing the beautiful skin lying just below that layer of dryness. But just like the rest of your skincare routine, understanding the best way to exfoliate for your skin type makes all the difference in giving your skin a fresh start. Let’s breakdown how to exfoliate for each skin type with these easy tips.
Dry Skin
Whether it’s seasonal, due to medication, or just your genes, dry skin means you have barely visible pores, can have a dull rough complexion, and maybe even more visible signs of aging. It’s important to drench the skin starting with the proper cleanser and work your way all the way through to the moisturizer. Exfoliating is very important for dry skin in that it helps remove that layer of dead skin cells, and a regular exfoliation treatment as part of your skincare routine will make it easier for your skin to absorb your moisturizer and serums.
Combo/Oily Skin
Combo or oily skin usually means a combination of smaller and larger pores and often issues with breakouts. It’s very important to exfoliate combo or oily skin so that blemishes and clogged pores stay under control. With oily skin consider using a product with glycolic acid gel that uses alpha hydroxy acid to refine the skin’s surface and promote cell turnover. Add this step to your skincare routine 1-3 times a week.
Sensitive Skin
Even if you have sensitive skin you should exfoliate gently, but make sure to limit this step to once or twice a week. When exfoliating sensitive skin, look for a product that is gentle and also hydrating. Vitamin E and chamomile in a polishing scrub will help soothe and condition sensitive skin. For sensitive skin we also recommend mixing a milk cleanser with an ultra-fine polishing paste as a gentle way to exfoliate the skin and body once a week.
