Got it From Our Momma: Skincare Tips from Eva, Tuel Founder
You know that saying, mom knows best? It’s absolutely true, especially in our world of natural skincare. Our mom, skincare pioneer Eva Friederichs, created Tuel based on the belief that good skincare contains only the best that nature has to offer. In fact, our mom believed in living a healthy lifestyle way before we knew what things like non-GMO, organic, and chemical-free really meant. As we celebrate Mother’s Day, we honor our Mom’s vision of helping everyone—of all ages, genders, skin types, and ethnicities—get the best skin of their lives with a few of our favorite skincare tips we got from our momma.
Girl, wash your face (every night and take off your makeup)
Okay, we’ve all been there. Out late and too tired to take off your makeup. But did you know that by not washing your face at night you are exposing your skin to the free radicals in the environment that cause the breakdown of healthy collagen? This leads to fine lines, clogged pores and acne. When you sleep in your makeup, you don’t give your skin a chance to recover from what you were exposed to during the day, leading to premature aging.
Always wear sun protection rain or shine
May is also National Skin Cancer and Melanoma Awareness Month, and we are passionate about making wearing sunscreen a daily habit. It is without a doubt your best bet to prevent skin cancer and fight premature aging. That’s why we developed two sunscreen formulations for all skin types and climates...products that not only protect from harmful UVA/UVA rays, but conditions and hydrates the skin. Green tea helps fight free radicals, while hyaluronic acid and chamomile condition and provide ultimate hydration.
Use moisturizer
Moisturizer is definitely the best way to keep your skin clear, smooth, and wrinkle-free in the future. From fighting wrinkles and keeping your skin young, the right moisturizer can also reduce the appearance of blemishes. Make sure to choose an all-natural moisturizer that is right for your skin type, and focuses on conditioning and restoring your skin. And, don’t forget those other areas that tend to show the first signs of aging such as the eyes, neck, chest and hands.
Hydrate from the inside out
One of the simplest things you can do for your skin is to drink water. You may know the overall benefits of staying hydrated, but when it comes to your skin, consider water an absolute must. Your skin cells require water to function properly and maintain optimal moisture. Water delivers essential nutrients to your skin and replenishes the tissue, increasing elasticity, and can even delay the appearance wrinkles and fine lines. By flushing out toxins, water helps with skin disorders such as psoriasis, rosacea, and eczema, and improves your digestive system leaving you with healthy, glowing skin. So how much water do you really need to make a difference? At least 8, 8 oz. glasses a day, or about a half gallon is still the general rule of thumb.
