Ready to Go Deeper? Prepping Skin for Advanced Treatments

Ready to take your skincare to the next level? Whether you’re diving into microneedling, a deep chemical peel, laser resurfacing, injectables, or even a surgical refresh, proper prep is the secret to getting that “I-woke-up-like-this” glow. Treatments can do wonders, but the real magic happens when your skin is healthy, hydrated, and ready to respond. Think of this as your pre-treatment pep talk—your guide to getting the best results possible.

1. Start with Smart Skin Prep

The weeks leading up to your appointment matter just as much as the treatment itself. For about two weeks before, use gentle exfoliating and hydrating products to smooth texture, even tone, and prime your skin for transformation. Just pause these products several days before your treatment to give your skin time to rest and rebalance. (See step 2!)

2. Take a Break from Actives

We all love our retinoids, scrubs, and exfoliating acids—but too much of a good thing before a big treatment can spell irritation. Take a short break (about 5–7 days) from strong actives to keep your barrier happy and calm. Trust us, your skin will thank you afterward.

3. Stay Sun Smart

Sunshine feels great, but right now, your skin needs protection, not exposure. Avoid tanning, sunburns, or heavy sun time before your appointment. A compromised skin barrier and UV exposure can make advanced treatments less effective and recovery a little rougher. Applying a mineral sunscreen should always be your final step in your morning skincare routine, but even more so as you prep for treatments.

4. Hydrate Inside & Out

Hydration is your secret weapon for glowing results. Drink plenty of water and stick to nourishing, gentle skincare. Well-hydrated skin reacts more evenly to treatments and bounces back faster afterward—making your results smoother and more radiant.

5. Follow Post-Care Like a Pro

Once your treatment is done, the “after” phase begins. Avoid direct sun, skip makeup and exfoliants, and stick to the calming, hydrating products your provider recommends. Always use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily and wait for your pro’s green light before diving back into your regular skincare routine.
