Your Spring Skincare Routine Reset

Some say spring is the season of hope, new beginnings, and spirituality—where the promise of renewal is so powerful it transforms nature. And since we’re all ready for a little refresh in our lives, why not take the same approach to your skin? After spending months moisturizing and trying to soothe your dry winter skin, springtime brings its own set of skincare challenges. That’s why springtime is the best time to reset your routine so your skin survives the seasonal transition with a glow up that would make mother nature proud. Read on for our recommendations on how to refresh your skincare routine just in time for spring.

Make a Change

Seasonal shifts are a great time to consider changing your skincare products to something that is healthier for your skin. Consider skincare products that are 100% vegan, and use high concentrations of powerful plant extracts, active ingredients, and minerals rich in potent antioxidants to create the ideal skincare routine. Nothing like feeding your skin from the outside in for a fresh start.

Help Your Skin Transition from Winter to Spring

Your skin may still be feeling the harsh effects of winter—we're talking puffy, red, itchy, dry skin. Fight back with products designed to soothe and calm the skin. Ingredients such as aloe vera extract, avocado oil, sunflower seed oil and a healthy dose of antioxidants can help with redness, soothe irritation and restore your winter skin. One of our favorite spring skincare additions is a calming essential oil. Designed to give your skin and wellbeing a boost, essential oils are best when added to your skincare routine at night, applying 5-7 drops to moist hands and smoothing onto your face and neck before your moisturizer.

Go Ahead and Lighten Up

Spring is when you want to lighten up a bit on your moisturizer, especially if you have oily and or acne-prone skin. Thick moisturizers have a time and place during the winter season, but you may want to opt for something lighter with little or no oil that will work better in the warmer months.

Give Your Skin a Fresh Start

Get rid of the dry, dead winter skin by exfoliating—it’s the best way to give your skin a fresh start. But don’t go crazy scrubbing your skin with mechanical exfoliators or overusing chemical exfoliators (e.g., glycolic acid, lactic acid, etc.). An overnight exfoliating treatment is a great option. A product that uses glycolic acid combined with healing natural ingredients such as aloe and provitamin B5 to condition and soothe will help minimize any irritation. Or try a kit designed to first peel then heal your skin. The peel will break down the dead skin, dissolving the outer layer to help even skin tone and texture, then products designed to heal the skin will help soothe and hydrate.

The Secret is in the Serum

If you really want to get your skin glowing, add a vitamin C based serum. Not only is it anti-aging, this multi-tasking product can give skin a brighter, firmer look. Adding a vitamin C serum to your skincare routine will deliver maximum hydration and antioxidant support to your skin.

Don’t Forget the Sunscreen

While you should be using sunscreen all winter long, spring is definitely the time to add it into your skincare routine. Work it into your routine every morning by applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher—after your moisturize but before applying makeup.
